Standard type demister pads are typically used in many industries to separate particles from one another and reduce drag. They are usually made of ss woven wire mesh or knitted mesh and use a combination of pressure and direction to create a demisting effect.

They are typically made from stainless steel and woven into a mesh which can absorb up to 99% of liquid and vapor. The metal pads are capable of handling high liquid and vapor content, while the stainless steel pads offer better insulation and are more resistant to corrosion. Standard type demister pads are used in chemical plants and oil refineries, food and beverage plants, electronics, aerospace, and automotive industries. The physical specifications of these pads vary depending on the application, but typically they range between 0.15mm and 5mm in thickness and from 2mm up to 80mm in size.

York 431 demister pads are a type of stainless steel wire mesh filter media for liquid and gas applications. Made from SS304, SS304L or SS316L, these pads are commonly used in the chemical and oil industries, coalescing liquids from steam and air vents, and collecting and retaining liquid droplets from gas streams. The pads are available in a variety of styles and sizes. As the name implies, York 431 style pads are made from 431 stainless steel, an austenitic stainless steel grade which provides superb resistance to corrosion and wear. The mesh of the pad is further reinforced by multiple layers of woven wire mesh, and is designed to reduce separation efficiency. Additionally, the pads are easy to install and maintain, can be temperature resistant up to 600 degrees Fahrenheit, and are non-toxic and safe to use.
